An eBook for the International Day of Happiness

Today is the International Day of Happiness.

In June 2012, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution declaring the 20th of March an International Day of Happiness, and inviting member states to “pursue the elaboration of additional measures that better capture the importance of the pursuit of happiness and well-being in development with a view to guiding their public policies.”

The pursuit of happiness, says the UN, is a fundamental human goal. Further, the UN resolution recognized the importance of  “happiness and well-being as universal goals and aspirations in the lives of human beings around the world.” (Our WorkHuman 2015 conference is a perfect example of how this idea is taking root in the workplace.)

Since a good portion of our live is spent at work, the importance of work happiness is a critical component of promoting these ideas and improving all our lives. Issues like employee well-being, development and recognition are fundamental to the creation of a happier workplace and a happier world and things that we, as managers and leaders, should be measuring and promoting.

In that spirit, we are offering this e-book for you to read and share. Enjoy and have a happy day!
