Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning workload for AP to ensure team is working efficiently as a unit
  • Build good working relationships with all Stakeholders to empower the AP team meet its demands.
  • Maintain vendor GL controls and Document procedures
  • Standardised problem solving skills to work within defined parameters and determine best approach to resolving a variety of problems.
  • Ensure the adherence by the team to company policies and procedures
  • Ensuring the accurate set up of new suppliers and their banking details as well as updating of Terms/Ppay suppliers timely resolution of issues
  • Check and post the processing of invoices and payments and assist with entering payments on the bank when required
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of weekly and monthly AP reports and KPI’s
  • Ensure all deadlines are met and close schedules are delivered to a high standard for the month end close
  • Maintain open lines of communication with AP team to assist and motivate them to achieve their goals and deliver on day to day tasks
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and assist with the AP queries from external auditors
  • Preparing and making presentations as required
  • Supervise and on occasions carryout the implementation of ad hoc AP projects as assigned
  • Maintain open lines of communication with AP Manager at all times
  • Support the AP Manager on a daily basis, carrying out ad hoc task when required.


Required skills and experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience supervising an AP team
  • A Finance related qualification
  • Experienced user of ERP AP systems
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong organisational, planning and problem solving skills
  • Committed and focused with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong team player with ability to motivate others
