Key Purpose of Job

This role plays an important part in the design, development and unit testing of carious components to enhance our existing product suite. An important part of this role will be analyzing business requirements when collaborating within an agile environment and providing leadership when required in definition of standards to improve quality and/or productivity.


Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, development and unit testing of various different components to agreed standards in a timely manner to enhance our product suite.
  • Analyze business requirements, proposing various alternative technical solutions based on different architectures and techniques providing realistic and accurate development estimates.
  • Lead initiatives with to improve existing quality standards and/or productivity, ensuring audit and quality standards are maintained across all technical areas and collaborating with fellow developers providing guidance and mentoring when required.


Required Skills and Experience

  • 3 years or more of designing, development and testing in a J2EE (JSP, EJB, Servlets, Struts, Spring, JDBC, XML, Ajax, RMI, JDBC, Tag Libraries, Unit testing with Junit and Mock Objects) environment
  • Experience in web development technologies including JavaScript frameworks: YUI, jQuery
  • Web and App servers: JBoss/Web Logic, Apache, Tomcat
  • Middleware and frameworks: Lucene, Elasticsearch, Apache Camel, Apache ActiveMQ
  • Database: Oracle, Strong SQL skills
  • OS: Linux, Windows
  • Other: Ant, Maven, GIT, JavaScript, HTML/DHTML, Intellij, Eclipse
  • Strong software design skills
  • Knowledge and experience of full development cycle
  • Experience in collaborating closely with fellow developers, architects, BA & QA
  • Excellent Analytic and problem solving skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Self-starter who works on their own initiative
  • Good communications and written skills

Education and Qualifications

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent
